Description

Application for United-Warriors!

Name: Rye
Origin of name: His mother named him and his siblings after plants that once grew on the farm, having been a farmyard cat before leaving with his father to become a Feral.
Age: 18 Moons
Rank: Farmyard Cat
Origin: Farmyard
Nest: Resides in the hayloft of the abandoned barn - he thinks it's the best vantage point to keep an eye on all of the cats he considers under his care.
Mate:None.

Breed: (Abyssinian x Somali) x Domestic Shorthair
Build:  Average in height. Slim build with long legs, a long tail, and large, concave ears. His fur is medium in length, soft in texture, and is most notable around his neck - it puffs and spikes up around his scruff and he sports long, spiky bangs on his forehead. He is usually last to eat, rather seeing others be fed first, so this can lead to him being somewhat underweight in the harder months.
Extras: VA is Luke Mitchell as John Young from The Tomorrow People.

A young tom with the heart and spirit of a leader, Rye is, in short, a protective and loyal individual with fire in his heart. Ever since the death of his parents and siblings, he has taken it upon himself to watch over every cat that sets paw in the farmyard - he considers it his responsibility. No, not his responsibility - he considers them all his family.  No longer the happy-go-lucky kit he once was, his past has hardened him into a relatively serious individual, but his heart is still pure and kind - and the right cats bring out the best in him. Despite all he has suffered he does his best to remain positive, and has found comfort in his newfound family. Despite his usually serious nature, he does have a more laid back streak that is only visible to the farmyard cats and those who catch him when he's wandering.

To outsiders he is more wary, but this does not stop him from going on scouting trips to seek out any cat who may be in need of shelter. His wanderings aren't always business, however - sometimes to unwind he will travel all across the origins, his most traveled being the Town where the strays and kittypets live. He generally avoids the forest - it holds memories that he'd rather leave buried.

Brief history: Lila was born a farm cat, back when the fields were still newly abandoned and not overgrown with weeds and wildflowers, and was content with her life in the barnyard. Content to live there her entire life. It was what she expected, and the mere thought of leaving seemed absolutely unheard of. That is...until she met Russel. A feral cat in everything but personality, when he first stumbled into the barn in search of adventure, she was smitten. Countless meetings eventually ended with the two becoming mates, and it was with a grudging, but understanding agreement that Lila agreed to join her love in his home - the forest.

Two moons later, they found out she was pregnant. Both were overjoyed, and made a nest in the base of a hollowed out tree, lined with only the most plush of moss and decorated with the softest of feathers. And this is where they welcomed their kittens into the world. The oldest was Husk, a burly tom with wide shoulders and stout legs, featuring his mother's pale dappled pelt. The next was Rye, a slim tom with the exotic patterning of his father yet the coloring of his mother, and last was a small, dilute tortoiseshell she-cat dubbed Barley.

The first few moons of life for the small family was peaceful - perfect.

And then, on the eve of the litter's eighth moon, disaster struck.

In the middle of the night, thunder rumbled in the sky, a menacing sort of sound but nothing they normally would have fretted over. Then the lightning came. A sizzling bolt of white hot light struck the outstretched limbs of the family's home. Almost within an instant the entire patch of trees in which the small family lived erupted into flames, and all Rye remembered was his mother yelling for him and his siblings to run. Run.

But it was too late for all except Rye - the tree had collapsed, yet still he could hear his parents yowling for their son to run, as far and as fast as possible. And with tears streaming down his face, he did.

It seems only the proper thing in this strange thing called destiny that Rye ended up back at his mother's kithood home - though now the barn's once vivid red paint was peeling, the fields overgrown and overrun with mice. The two-legs just a memory. It was here he met other cats like himself living in the rafters and stalls, and gradually, the farmyard as we know it came to be.

Though by no means an 'official position', Rye has taken it upon himself to watch over any and every cat in the barn, and embraces them all as his family. He watches over them, takes care of them, and welcomes in any cat in need of shelter as part of his ever growing family of the Farmyard.
